I never played this on Roblox. It's my first time hearing of it. I love the character swapping and the world designs! Definite highlights. Some of the layout choices in the demo slowed the pacing, along with your base movement speed, which feels stunted to me. But that could just be my preference. This kind of platformer really benefits from forward momentum, so I'm interested in seeing where the full game ends up. Especially with the sprites and animations. In the meantime, I featured it on my list. Keep up the good work and good luck!
it looks like it will be really good when fully done.I like how colourful the world is and how you have to change characters mid air to get past some parts of the environment and i feel like a lot of cool things can be done with that I also look forward to see if there will be a story along with the full game.
Absolutely loved it. From the platforming and weight of the character, to the pixel art and music -- so rad. I really, really love this experience. I'll be keeping an eye out on this project.
The unix exec is marked as a document and not as an executable file. To fix this, right click on the application and click "Show Package Contents." Then navigate to Contents > MacOS > Vibrant Venture. Open the Terminal app and type "chmod u+x " and then drag the Vibrant Venture file. Press Enter, then go back, right click on the application again and click open, and when the security window pops up click open again, and now it works. The developer should fix this at some point.
Thanks so much!! This worked perfectly, not only for this game in particular but also some other games I've had trouble opening on my Mac. I'm not sure why this issue keeps popping up ever since I upgraded to Catalina but you're a lifesaver!
this was an excellent roblox gaiden. beautiful graphics and presentation. gameplay was solid, but my ps4 controller wasn't working. good game regardless, and i wish the kickstarter well
A lot of games with on-the-fly switching of abilities and/or characters have a normal switch that either stops or slows down time, and quick switch which doesn't waste any time.
Despite being just a demo, Vibrant Venture is looking like a really well done game. The art is cartoonish, but not over the top, and the colors all really pop. And while swapping between characters while moving around feels a little awkward to me on gamepad, the controls are otherwise pretty solid. The world also has lots of nostalgia to it, genuinely feeling like a Snes style game.
Based on the video, I think it feels awkward to you because you neither sprint (which is something you do in all platformers to jump higher) nor used the character wheel to slow down time by moving the right thumbstick. Instead, you only used quick-swapping with the DPad, which is a lot harder to use.
All of these features are presented in the tutorial, but it seems like you didn't notice, which could either be our fault (bad design) or yours (not paying attention). Either way, for the next demo, we'll try making it more clear by enabling auto-sprinting by default as well as streamlining the tutorial boards more.
Also, sorry if this sounded aggressive, I only wanted to present these points of view as a means to gain a better understanding of how we can improve. They're simply objective analytical observations ;)
I booted up the game again and, yeah, I definitely missed the option for using the right stick. Often, other games I've played with similar swap out mechanics just used the d-pad, so I instinctively went to that. As for sprinting, I knew about it, it's just that I'm forgetful and was mostly putzing around, enjoying the scenery.
Perfectly fine. A mistake occurred and was corrected, so I get that. It happens with new games.
Great demo. As someone who played Yoshi's Island growing up I appreciated the opening screen and end of level chalkboard. I recorded a clip for itch.io's YouTube channel:

Updates to the ROBLOX platform kept breaking the game, so the developer decided to discontinue the ROBLOX version.

I loved it until I got to the part where you have to character swap in the air to get across...
The button just would not work. Or I couldn't figure it out. Really great game otherwise and I wish I could play more.

Pretty polished build, I wonder what the story is... I guess we'll have to wait for the release? ;)

Reviewed live at: https://www.twitch.tv/naturalpowergames ; very good game. Seems to have a future honestly.
